Minnesota Engagement Session Location Ideas During the Off-Season

Rooftop engagement session North Carolina Charlotte

It's the dead of winter, early spring or you just missed the fall leaves - either way, it looks dead and bare outside and you aren't sure where to go for your engagement or wedding photos. Whenever I have couples book their engagement session in the off season or if I have a wedding and it's bare outside, I always choose certain surroundings or locations that will not only look lively but still give that elevated look. Take a peek here for engagement (or wedding) location ideas:

#1 ARCHITECTURAL BACKDROPS

You can never go wrong with a rooftop or parking ramp session - the views are incredible and so are the sunsets as the rays of sunshine peek through the skyscraper buildings. One of my favorite parking ramps to shoot at is in downtown Minneapolis. So if you're looking for an urban vibe this definitely is the way to go.

Classy, elegant and always timeless- ornate architecture at government buildings, museums, historic homes and even universities give you the look of sophistication that you're looking for without having to worry about leaf-less trees or muddy grass.

#2 STUDIO SESSION

First off, I can't get enough of Grace & Jonathan's session in the studio! It was blistering cold outside but we were cozy and comfortable inside. Studios are a perfect alternative location during the rainy season or cold season. I've had the privilege of doing maternity, engagement, baby milestone and branding photoshoots all in the studio without having to worry about the weather or pesky bugs.

#3 EVERGREENS

This is obviously a no-brainer, because well, just about everyone thinks of evergreens when it comes to greenery during the winter! But did you know that tree farm sessions can be done at any point in the year, honestly! Even before the snow hits the ground or before temperatures get below 50 degrees, tree farm sessions can be ideal if you want to get your "winter" session done before the brrrrrrr.
